history
jellyfishing has been around for a long time! not this iteration (i only launched fan.jellyfishing.net in july 2025) but previous iterations such as my original fanlisting collective domain: jellyfishing.info which eventually turned to jellyfishing.org.
jellyfishing.info was launched in 2009 and throughout its existence i must have had over like 60 fanlistings. i maintained it for several years but eventually adopted out or closed them down. i had a brief resurgence in 2016 where i started fresh with fanlistings, however, i was having a lot of glitches with enthusiast (fl script i was using) and ultimately decided that maybe it was time...
HOWEVER, it's 2025 and i've been getting back into web design thanks to the neocities community, and i discovered that while fanlistings are definitely not at their peak anymore, there is still interest for them. furthermore, there have been coders trying to keep enthusiast and listing admin alive. i know ekaterina and erin have both hung up their boots on updating them, but i'm hoping that their hard work will last until someone else takes an interest in fanlisting scripts.
originally, i'd always used enthusiast and codesort on my fanlisting collective. however, this time around i gave listing admin a shot and damn i love it! tess really included a million features and i'm just amazed how much is packed into it.
